Both burritos will be gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free. I love take out and of course the little white boxes they come in, but sometimes all of the oil can wreak havoc on my system. Vegetable fried rice is one of my favorite dishes and I love pairing it with vegetable spring rolls for a filling take-out style dinner. The tofu scramble gives a nice texture that replaces egg ever so perfectly and the sauce is tangy but sweet. It also has a nice crunch from the raw brussel sprout shavings to give the dish a variety of textures. Let’s get to the brussel sprout fried rice recipe. It is my absolute life’s mission to raise her to be a fierce, badass woman who kicks butt and takes names. I want her to do whatever it is that sparks a fire in her belly. I never want her to be afraid to take risks or ever to feel like she can’t do something because she’s female whether it’s athletics, school, business or her personal life. You might also like:
Dream Crazier Little Girl, Nike Gets A Slam DunkI want her to set goals for herself and not only achieve them, but I also want her to surpass them, like a damn rocket. I never want to hear any of this, ‘but only boys can do that’ nonsense. I want her to be able to hold her own in a business meeting, to be able to command a room with one look. If she wants to play football, I’mma buy her a helmet. This little girl of mine is precious. She’s sweet, feminine, intelligent, decisive and strong-willed. I want the devil himself to quiver when she gets out of bed in the morning. Times are definitely changing for the better for women these days. It may not be completely equal yet, but I don’t think that’s too far away. There are so many people still who think that girls can’t do certain things because they’re weak, or silly, emotional or fragile. Well, Nike has hit it out of the park with their new ‘Dream Crazier’ commercial. During the Oscars, Nike’s new commercial aired, and I don’t think there was a woman watching it anywhere in the world who didn’t want to shout ‘f**k yeah’ at the tv!! Not only was the commercial full of badass female athletes, but it also took all the stereotypical phrases used to belittle women, rebounded them and slam dunked them, in a huge up-yours to any a**hole who’s ever dared to try to demean a woman and call her crazy for having a dream. The dream crazier commercial is narrated by none other than the most bada** athlete of them all, Serena Williams who also stars in the ad, along with gymnast Simone Biles, fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, Chloe Kim, and members of the US Women’s National Soccer Team, former WNBA superstar Lisa Leslie, San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon and more. It shows these strong women passionately striving to reach their goals while being labeled as, crazy, emotional, unhinged and delusional. Take a look at the ad for yourself. Let those unhinged, delusional, crazy tears of pride flow!! Well, let them call you crazy for having dreams and goals, show them what crazy can do. Dream CRAZIER my little girl. You might also like:
Cruelty-Free Lifestyle Made My Daughter More EmpatheticChoosing a cruelty-free lifestyle was my conscious choice when I was in 7th grade. Till then, I used to have meat, probably two or three times a month and wasn’t aware of animal sufferings. At that time, I was reading a column in our local paper called “People for animals.” Each week the column spoke emphatically about how cruelty is bestowed on animals, just for the selfishness of meat lovers. I was shocked about the torture the animals endure, just so they can grace the plates of humans. One piece was particularly so disturbing, that I was on the verge of tears. On that day, my grandpa got me a chicken lollipop (as it used to be my favorite!) I could hardly bring myself to touch it, let alone eat it. That is when I decided, meat is not for me! As arranged marriages are the norm in India, I got a proposal from my husband’s family, and one of their main criteria was that they needed a bride who doesn’t eat meat! Apart from the usual joke of “I wouldn’t have chosen a cruelty-free lifestyle, if I knew I would be stuck with you!”, life was good. Then my daughter was born, and we both decided to raise her sans meat. I used to get a lot of comments from people, who thought that we have deprived our daughter of meat, just because we chose a cruelty-free lifestyle. When my daughter was 5, I told her about how much cruelty is meted out to animals, for animal products. She understood the core of our beliefs, instead of treading along the cruelty-free path, just because her parents told her so! I have always noticed, that kids need facts, instead of the blind imposition of our belief systems. As my daughter knew the implications of animal products and the cruelty meted out to them, she always said no to well wishers who tried to entice her into tasting meat. She was so clear cut in her response, that they eventually gave up. Cruelty-free lifestyle has made my daughter more emphatic, and has shaped her personality to a large extent. She understands more emotional responses, and is always mindful of how a tiny act of cruelty can damage a person. She stands up for bullied kids, and handles all hurdles with a cool demeanor. I am so glad that we made this choice! Got a story you would like to share with our readers? Write to us or leave a comment below. Iron is one of the vitamins that vegans (and vegetarians) are most deficient in, as it is most commonly found in red meat. Not only is it a deficiency problem for us herbivores because our bodies don’t absorb iron from plants as well as they do from animal sources, but it is especially an area of concern for those who are pregnant. Iron is important because it is a component in hemoglobin, which helps to transport oxygen throughout your body to all of your tissues. You might also like:

On average, it is recommended that women have 18 mg of iron daily and that pregnant women have 27 mg per day. Some signs of its deficiency include fatigue, skin paler than usual, and shortness of breath. Being iron deficient is the most common cause for anemia. In cases of extreme iron deficiency in pregnant women, it result in a high risk of having a premature birth. Cast iron skilletNot only is a cast iron skillet amazing because they allow for non-stick, chemical-free cooking but using one can naturally add iron to your food. The longer your food cooks in the skillet, the more iron will be absorbed. These skillets have a long lifetime and are well worth the investment. Eat more beansDid you know that kidney beans and chickpeas are great sources of iron? One cup of kidney beans contains 15.1 mg of iron and one cup of chickpeas contains 12.5 mg. Incorporating more beans in your diet will also help with an increase of protein and fiber. Increase Vitamin C intakeVitamin C is beneficial because it helps your body increase its absorption of vital vitamins such as iron. Cantaloupe, oranges, grapefruit, and kale. Vitamin C also has other benefits including a strengthened immune system as well providing a natural treatment for the common cold. Iron vitaminsTaking a supplement to increase your iron intake is an easy addition to your morning routine. I take Nature Made’s 65 mg iron tablets once a day to help combat its deficiency. They are free of artificial flavors, preservatives, and gluten. How do you keep your iron levels up? Which of these vegan sources of iron you like the best? Let me know in the comments below. Friends of the Duchess, Amal Clooney and Serena Williams hosted the event at The Mark hotel, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan last Wednesday. You might also like:
Brits Ripping Pregnant Meghan Markle To Shreds Over Lavish NYC Baby ShowerThe bash apparently cost in excess of a whopping $200,000, with the penthouse costing upwards of $100,000 per night. Celebrity guests were treated to a harpist, crates of Sancerre, a flower arranging class and a meal prepared by world-renowned, Michelin Star chef, Jean George. Even though the shower wasn’t funded by taxpayers, or by heavily pregnant Meghan Markle, the royal mama-to-be has been put on blast for the lavish party. The extravagant do seems to have ruffled some feathers across the pond. People seem to feel that Meghan is flaunting her wealth and celebrity status in a way that is a big no-no for a royal. The Royals have been working hard over the last decade to keep themselves relevant. In the turbulent Brexit era, flashing her cash is not doing the Duchess, who has been dubbed the ‘difficult Duchess,’ any favors. Newspapers such as The Times, The Daily Mail and The Daily Telegraph have all posted criticizing headlines about the posh party. The Times claiming that her baby shower provokes ‘indignation,’ The Daily Mail asking what Queen Elizabeth would make of Meghan’s lavish trip, and The Daily Telegraph, supposedly the Queen’s favorite, reporting the glamour of the baby shower may have surpassed the Royal Wedding. Piers Morgan has even piped in, claiming that the Queen would be concerned about the affair. Heavily pregnant Meghan Markle doesn’t seem to be able to catch a break from the media lately, with The Daily Star even blaming the Duchess on Prince Harry’s thinning hairline. The paper claims that Prince? Harry’s baldness has doubled since the wedding. I’m pretty sure one only has to look at his father, Prince Charles, to see where he inherited that from. I like Meghan, and I’m not sure why the Brits seem to have turned their back on her lately. Casa de Carne is a made up fine dinning restaurant, in the award winning short film, where Eric and his friends turn up for lunch. As the server approaches, Eric and his friends gear up for some great time together, except that the experience turns grim and horrific for Eric. You might also like:
LCA’s Casa de Carne: The Award Winning Short Film That Hits You Real HardThe thought provoking short film, written and directed by Dustin Brown, takes us through the narrow lanes of bitter unseen truth that is hard for even the strongest of us to swallow. We see it through the eyes of Eric, when he turns up to the restaurant with his squad, but is shook by the events that follow. On ordering ribs, the server takes Eric to an enclosed area where he is locked in with an innocent defenseless pig. Eric is given a butcher’s knife making it very clear: he has to kill his food with his own hands. When he couldn’t bring himself to do the deed, two butchers enter and slit the throat of the wailing pig, right there in front of Eric’s eyes. The camera might have zoomed out but the shrieks of the pig stays with Eric and the viewers for quite some while. Seated back at the table with juicy ribs on a plate in front of him, Eric has blood on his neck from the kill he was forced to watch. The movie is indeed unsettling and it is the exact purpose it was made for- to make people question their eating habits. A plate full of seasoned ribs has more truth to it than meets the eyes. Unsurprisingly, LCA’s Casa de Carne secured the first place at 6th Annual Animal Film Festival (AFF). Watch the short film here. Hello Bello is set to go on sale at Walmart in store and online this week. Shepard and Bell say the brand was designed to be top quality at a more affordable price, made from mostly organic, plant-based ingredients with a friendly, inclusive ethos that mimics their relatable parenting style. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard believe that parents shouldn’t have to choose between products that are good for their babies and products that they can afford, so they created a line that will give you the best of both worlds. Creating a brand that is eco-conscious, plant-based and affordable was a no brainer for the couple. On Instagram, Bell called Hello Bello, their ‘newest baby.’ Hello Bello product line available on Walmart.com Vanilla apricot lotion (8.5 ounces) for $5.98. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard realized how unfair it was that most of the organic, plant-based, eco-conscious products are quite expensive, making them inaccessible to many people around the country. They chose to sell their products in Walmart because they see it as an ‘accessibility center’ and a one-stop-shop that is easier for working parents to grab everything all in one place, at an affordable price.
