Each labor is different, still there are few general experiences that you can expect to happen to you too. In the previous post, I explained all about the first stage of labor. If you didn’t already, read it here and come back to know more about 2nd stage of childbirth. The second stage of childbirth involves pushing and the delivery of your baby. Up until now, your body has been doing all the work for you. Now that your cervix has fully dilated to 10 cm, it is time for you to help by pushing. Pushing and what to expect during the 2nd stage of childbirth:During this stage, your contractions will be more regular than the contractions in transitional labor. They are still about 60 to 90 seconds each but are further apart (usually two to five minutes). You should now notice a well-defined rest period between them. No two labors are identical and there is no way to know exactly how everything will pan out. However, you can know the stages of the birth process and what to generally expect. Read further to know all about 1st stage of childbirth. Childbirth, unless in the case of a c-section, occurs in three stages:
1st stage of childbirthThe beginning of labor until the cervix is completely dilated to 10 cm. 2nd stage of childbirthThe period after the cervix is dilated to 10 cm until the baby is delivered. 3rd stage of childbirthDelivery of the placenta. More about the first stageFirst Stage of Labor is the longest stage of labor, and it has three phases: Scroll further to know more about 1st stage of childbirth. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE:
Early LaborWhat to do:
You may feel excitement, relief, anticipation, uncertainty, anxiety or even fear. All of these reactions are very normal. It’s important to try to relax as much as you can during the early phases of labor — you’ll need to save your energy for later. During this phase, you should just try to relax. It is not necessary to rush to the hospital. Try to enjoy the comfort of home. Keep yourself occupied while conserving your energy. Drink plenty of water and eat small snacks. Keep track of your contractions. What to expect:
You’ll experience mild to moderate contractions that last 30 to 45 seconds, though they can be shorter, and might be regular or irregular. They may be spaced around 20 minutes apart and become progressively closer together, but not necessarily in a consistent pattern. You may not even notice them until the final two to six hours; if you’re dilating gradually over a period of days or weeks, you probably won’t feel them at all until labor starts in earnest. During early labor, you also might experience any of the following labor signs: When your water breaks (amniotic sac rupture), note the following: Active Labor Phase
What to do:
It’s time for you to go to the hospital or birth center. Your contractions will be stronger, longer and closer together. It is important that you have plenty of support. It is also a good time to start your breathing techniques and try some relaxation exercises between contractions. What to expect:
Your contractions will grow more concentrated and increasingly more intense — in other words, painful. As they become stronger and longer (typically lasting 40 to 60 seconds, with a distinct peak halfway through) and more frequent (coming every three to four minutes, though the pattern may not be regular), you can expect to feel all of the following (you won’t feel pain if you’ve had an epidural by this point): Transition PhaseWhat to do:
During this phase, the mother will rely heavily on her support person. This is the most challenging phase, but it is also the shortest. Try to think “one contraction at a time” (this may be hard to do if the contractions are very close together). Remember how far you have already come, and when you feel an urge to push, tell your health care provider. What to expect:
The intensity of your contractions will pick up. They may become very strong and 60 to 90 seconds long, and with very intense peaks that last for most of the contraction. Because they’re spaced only about two or three minutes apart, it may seem as though you barely get to relax before the next contraction begins. During transition, unless you’re numbed by an epidural or other pain relief, you may feel: When you’re 10 cm dilated it will be time to push! A giant beefy bovine in Australia has broken the internet.A hulking Holstein Friesian in Australia has been spared from slaughter because of his behemoth size. Not surprisingly there’s been a twitter frenzy since a picture of Knickers was first tweeted. Owner Geoff Pearson, says that Knickers was just “too heavy” to be sold or killed for his meat. “I wouldn’t be able to put it through a processing facility,” Pearson told PerthNow. “So I think it will just live happily ever after.” According to Australia’s ABC News, seven-year-old Knickers, a Holstein Friesian, is double the weight of the average animal of its breed and more than a foot and a half taller. He is giant, standing 6ft 4in to the shoulder. This is just slightly smaller than the world record-holding steer, Bellino, who lives in Italy and stands at giant 6ft 6in. Knickers, a Holstein Friesian, weighs in at 1,400kg and is quite possibly the biggest steer in Australia. A photo of Knickers tweeted by 7 News Central Queensland, owned by the same parent company as PerthNow, had garnered more than a thousand retweets in less than a day. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE:

Knickers can now live out the rest of his days on the 3,000-acre property, home to 4,000 head of cattle. Pearson also said that his other cattle follow the massive steer around by the hundreds, viewing him as their leader. Via https://raisevegan.com/devour-this-spicy-aromatic-vegan-potato-curry/ I am a non parent while my best friend recently gave birth to an adorable baby. Presently our friendship is dangling somewhere between the parent vs non parent conflict. Every time I dial her number now, I have to question myself whether it’s appropriate to call directly or should I leave her a message first. Should I call her in the afternoon? Will we ever be able to go to movies together, like before? Questions are endless! Its no longer parents vs non parents. Friendship is possible!Just as I was figuring out ways to still be a part of her life, I happen to stumble upon several rants about the age old parents vs non parents conflict. I won’t be lying if I say, I got real scared of losing my long time friend. Are friendships this difficult to maintain when one of the friends becomes a parent? The answer is no. I will elaborate in the later sections of this post on maintaining the delicate bond of friendship. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE:
Parents vs Non parents conflict can easily be avoidedYes it can be avoided. And seems like me and my best friend just hit the jackpot when we freely discussed it over a cup of coffee. If both the friends are hell-bent on remaining close to each other as before, there isn’t a thing that can separate them. Not even a cute adorable baby. Here are some of the tips I feel are very helpful in avoiding the parents vs non parents conflict and maintaining friendships. AcceptanceThis is for non parents. Nothing works better than accepting the fact that you can’t control circumstances. Change is the only constant thing so readily accept it. Accept that your friend has a new responsibility now and she’s going to be a bit busy than your liking. If the friendship is precious for you, you won’t mind putting in extra efforts. Take charge and reach outThis one is for the parents. Since it is the non parent putting in extra efforts by giving you the much needed space, in turn you can take charge and reach out to them whenever possible. Make a phone call once or twice a week and show that you too care. Host Sunday brunches at your home. It will be a lot easier to hang with your friends in the comfort of your home all the while keeping a eye on your child. Focus on more refreshing topicsThis is for both parents and non parents. Talk on topics other than just kids. This way parents can catch a break from life that otherwise solely revolves around the kids, while non parents can too get involved in the discussion without feeling left out. Talk about work, life, hobbies- just anything that interests you both. Empathize with each otherJust like parents have their moments of insanity, non parents too suffer from the same. Empathize with each other over the possibility that you both can be easy and not available for an instant chat. Set basic boundariesTalk to each other and decide on some basic boundaries like text before call, no call time zone etc. These boundaries are immensely helpful in preventing the clash of parents vs non parents worlds. The vast majority of ovarian cysts are benign, follicular cysts that come and go with your cycle and need no further management. About 20% of women experience cysts that don’t go away on their own, and could require surgery. Here are certain signs of ovarian cysts to look out for. If you notice these six ovarian cyst symptoms, you should visit your healthcare provider immediately. Signs of Ovarian Cysts1. You’ve got pelvic pain that just won’t go away.
The most common ovarian cyst symptom is pain in the lower right or left side of the lower pelvis, right where the ovaries are.
2. Bloated Belly
Swelling is obviously a vague symptom, but it can be related to ovarian cysts depending on their size. If the weight only seems to be in your stomach, or you can’t figure out any other reason you’d be gaining weight, that’s a red flag. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE:
3. You constantly feel fullJust like uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts can cause a feeling a heaviness in the abdomen. A cyst is a mass, and it’s occupying space, which can give you that feeling of pressure. 4. Constant urge to pee
If a cyst is pushing against your bladder, you may feel like you have to urinate. Some women feel that they need to go more frequently, but it’s harder for them to go, because of a blockage by the cyst. 5. Pain during sex
If during sex you feel pain on one side versus the other, there’s a chance it could be related to an ovarian cyst. Endometriomas – ovarian cysts related to endometriosis, can also cause pain during sex, because they’re located closer to the cervix. 6. Back or leg pain
Cysts can compress the nerves that run along the back of your pelvis. Please contact your healthcare provider if you are having any unusual symptoms. Look out for these signs of ovarian cysts and consult your healthcare provider if you experience any of these. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE:
